Anyone know of an herbal remedy that will calm/soothe cats?
Have two elderly cats, 14 and 16 years old, who tend to yowl at night. Vet has no suggestions, it’s normal says he. Putting them in another room makes it worse. These two have chronic renal failure but doing OK right now. Any herbal/home remedies that could calm them without aggravating their health problems?
There is a product called "rescue rememdy" That you put into the water. Some cat rescueres swear by it. You can find it at most health food/herbal type shops.

Old old cats eh , well, I guess as they’re getting older they may need more comfort than their younger years, and perhaps they miss you when you go to bed!, sometimes they’ll do anything for attention ;oP
Can you leave something of yours with them when you go to bed, and perhaps a toy that doesn’t need you there to operate it!

I think it would be worth investing in a product called Feliway. You can buy it from any pet store chain, it costs around $40 for the starter pack, refills are less.
It’s a plug in diffuser, similar to an air freshener that you plug into an outlet. Don’t worry it doesn’t have a smell tho! It’s a feline pheromone that soothes cats. It has worked wonders for me and my one nervous cat, totally a night and day change.
I wouldn’t use the Rescue Remedy unless you speak to your vet. The main ingredient in the Rescue Remedy is alcohol, which is why it works so well! That’s fine for a normal healthy cat, but your kitties have CRF. I have a CRF cat myself and was told not to use Rescue Remedy on him by my vet as well as the CRF group I belong to.
